The Edina Community Council


The Edina Community Council is the agent that oversees the operation of The Edina Resource Center. The council's mission is to be a catalyst for Edina community efforts that strengthen individuals and families.

Edina Community Council Responsibilities
  • Steering committee for Edina Family Services Collaborative
  • Allocate spending of Edina’s Local Collaborative Time Study dollars
  • Assess human service strengths and needs in Edina
  • Select and prioritize community goals to strengthen families
  • Promote community building efforts
  • Guide the operations of the Edina Resource Center and assure its long term financial stability

Edina Community Council Membership Council membership is comprised of:
  • seven School Board appointees
  • seven City Council appointees
  • four Edina Community Council appointees
Membership must include representatives from:
  • Hennepin County
  • a community action group such as Head Start
  • a community action group for Suburban Hennepin and/or Bloomington Public Health

Community Council Facts
  • The council meets nine times from August through May; additional meetings by sub-committees are also conducted
  • Council term is three years
  • Council members must live or work, or have substantial interest in the Edina community
